Why should I configure Subgroups?
Problem
When using the TIN/NPI Management tool, TINs and NPIs must be associated, followed by patient attribution. In between these steps are options to configure CCNs, Divisions, and Subgroups. Since Divisions and Subgroups do not affect patient attribution, what is the point in configuring Subgroups?
Solution
The primary purpose for configuring Subgroups is for analytics and reporting. It is also useful to group NPIs under Subgroups in order to associate grouped providers in a more definitive manner.
