What does it mean when the TIN/NPI import asks whether an NPI is a Facility NPI?
Solution
Some NPIs are not associated with a specific provider, but a hospital or other such facility. Since patients should be attributed only to specific providers, any NPIs that are associated with a facility should be labeled "YES" in the TIN/NPI import template, and the column to the right should be blank. This way, patients will never be assigned to this NPI through the patient assignment algorithm or the manual patient assignment import.
