What should I do after a quarterly assignment file (QASSGN) arrives? (Administrator only)
Question
A new quarterly assignment file, or QASSGN file, arrived and has been implemented on my Health Endeavors database. Now what?
Solution
Here are some areas of the website to keep in mind after a QASSGN file arrives:
- Confirm that your attributed population is on the most QASSGN file released by CMS. The information can be found at the bottom of the page after logging in.
- Go to the TIN/NPI Management Center, and make sure to update patient assignments using your preferred method (Patient Assignment Algorithm, Manual Patient Assignment, or both)
- Go to the TIN/NPI Management Review page, and filter based on patients that are Not Assigned. Retain this information for further research into proper assignment.
- Use the report labeled Attributed Patient Assignment Requires Attention in the Quick Data Tool to find relevant information for patients not currently assigned.
- After researching the unassigned patients, one of two outcomes is likely to occur:
- If the patient's affiliation with the proper TIN/NPI is captured in the QASSGN file, we recommend using the Review page to manually assign the patient to the proper TIN/NPI.
- If the patient's affiliation with the proper TIN/NPI is not captured in the QASSGN file, or if you wish to update multiple patients at once, we recommend using the Manual Patient Assignment tool to assign patients to the proper TIN/NPI.
- If the patient's affiliation with the proper TIN/NPI is captured in the QASSGN file, we recommend using the Review page to manually assign the patient to the proper TIN/NPI.
Did you know?
If the report labeled Attributed Patient Assignment Requires Attention is showing that TINs and NPIs are not linked in your database, you may use step 1 of the TIN/NPI Management tool to configure these TIN/NPI combinations. (Administrator only)
